It’s time again for another Round the Office Roundup! This series will give you a sneak peek into the world of what’s going on at Digital Pacific. So, what’s been happening?
The Friday staff lunch was rather iconic – pies from Harry’s Cafe de Wheels. Rather than just tell you what we ate, I thought I’d spice things up by announcing that we are now the world’s very first hybrid web hosting/food critic company. Without further ado, here are two reviews from our Tech Support team:
Timo: I can’t say that I eat pies often, but this was best pie that I’ve eaten in 2016 and it made me feel like a 9 year old boy again when I used to be made of pie.
Aden: Like all those legends before me, I got the Harry’s Cafe de Wheels classic, the Tiger… And I enjoyed it as much as Elton John ever did! My only regret is that I got a cookie on the side.. instead of another Tiger.
Face-stuffing aside, our L3 SysAdmin team were subjected to a photo shoot earlier in the week in preparation for System Administrator Appreciation Day which fell on Friday.
Let me tell you, getting 6 SysAdmins (who seem to be a notoriously camera-shy bunch) to stand nicely in a line and smile at the same moment in time is no easy feat. The standing part they nailed right away, but the smiling began at about a 33% participation level until we finally (pretty much) coaxed it out of all of them.

Possibly one of the other biggest talking points around the office has been the mind-boggling restocking of the snack bar. Recently, it has consisted of two sad, rejected licorice rolls that nobody would touch. But apparently the snack fairy went on a frenzied binge and next minute, we behold the following candy mountain in the staff lounge.
There were also some fairly suspicious adult items for sale in the snack bar that had to be removed for the photo. I guess the snack fairy got lost in a different shop on their way back.
In tech-related news, Puppet-master Jo (who can be seen in the photo above) has been busy merging Crucial servers on to the Digital Pacific puppet. In layman’s terms, this means our System Administrators can now manage both companies from one place. This brings about many benefits to all, including making it easier for our SysAdmins to manage and make changes, and also reduces the risk of a server falling off the wayside when updates are rolled out.
