Happy Black Friday one and all! Today marks the start of the busy sales season heading up to Christmas. Speaking of, have you prepared your website to handle the festive season? We thought we’d start off the weekend vibes with a roundup of all the weird and wonderful stuff we’ve been up to lately.

Tech Stuff

WordPress endured a couple of security vulnerabilities this month, starting off with a potential SQL injection attack. This was patched with the release of 4.8.3 however, and if you’re keeping up to date, you should now already be up to version 4.9. Later on in the month, several major WordPress plugins were affected by multiple severe vulnerabilities. As always, it’s important to keep your plugins up to date – particularly when they release security patches to fix issues such as these. If you haven’t already, we’d highly recommend you ensure all of your WordPress themes, plugins and core files are up to date.

Around the middle of November, we released a post outlining the often-overlooked, but extremely important task of setting up your WordPress website’s outbound mail properly. Leaving your mail settings as-is can often lead to your website’s emails ending up in your customer’s junk mail boxes, so it’s definitely worth spending a few minutes to set things up properly!

Fun Stuff

A week or so ago, our social club also held a night of putt-putt at Holey Moley Golf Club in Newtown, Sydney. Prizes were awarded for first and last, with special mention going to the team whose scorecard followed a rather conspicuous trajectory of impossible holes-in-ones and were thus, disqualified and publically shamed. (*cough* Tom H, Sarah, Steph and Shannon.)
