It’s time again for another Round the Office Roundup! This series will give you a sneak peek into the world of what’s going on at Digital Pacific. So, what’s been happening?
The internal Digital Pacific economy is strong this week after the snack fairy was at it again, this time, doubling their retail-space in the lounge area and bringing in a new range of delights. Whispers around the lunch table have eluded to the possibility of a second party stepping forward to set up shop on the opposite side of the room. We could be in for a territory war.
We also held our second office games event: the almighty Typing Race. Tom N of the tech support crew was crowned the fastest typer in a grand finale upset, taking out favourite-to-win L4 Engineer Matt T in a 4-0 defeat. Having also won the table tennis event, the question we are now left with… why is Tom N so good at everything?
Meanwhile, down in the Ops corner, Level 3 SysAdmin Jo recently released an improvement on our shared and reseller hosting platforms. In a nutshell, improvements were made to our ModSecurity rules to assist in the detection of bruteforce attacks on WordPress installations. As a result, WordPress installations are now more secure and bruteforce attacks can now be automatically blocked in the server firewall.
This is great for everyone, not only because it makes WordPress more secure, but also because the amount of server resources a bruteforce attack will use has been greatly reduced, meaning better performance for all!
Lunch on Friday was another round of pizza and chicken. Nobody would look at the camera and smile nicely, so here’s a photo of the backs of several heads.
Our fearless Tech Support team leader Lee was unfortunately involved in a road accident last week. Thankfully he is fine, albeit with a broken knee. We can only hope that he is left with a really cool battle wound for storytelling purposes. Rest up Lee!
That’s it from us for this edition. Wishing everyone a great week ahead.
